Sony Pulls Cyberpunk 2077 from the Playstation Store

Following the refund backlash by console customers, Sony has decided enough is enough and Cyberpunk 2077 has been pulled from the Playstation Store.

If CDPR thought they could ride this out and pull together patches quickly and still gain a few sales, they were mistaken. Sony has made a big move this evening and yanked the game from sale. A statement from Sony reads:

SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.

Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund. Please note that completion of the refund may vary based on your payment method and financial institution.

Refunds are good news for any gamers not happy with the quality of the game on the Playstation plarforms. This week customers have had mixed messages from the console companies as to what was actually happening, This was despite CDPR stating refunds would be available.

If you head to the Cyberpunk 2077 page now, it simply reads “Release date to be determined”. The game will of course be back, but we have no idea when and a lot will depend on how quickly CDPR can fix the game and release the next-gen upgrade next year.

Well, that’s quite the kick in the nuts for CDProjekt.

I think if they were inundated with refund requests however it’s more work than it’s worth.
