CD Projekt to create new Witcher Title

Last Updated on March 12, 2020

Although Cyberpunk 2077 is still some months away from release, CD Projekt is already planning a new single-player game set in the Witcher universe according to comments from President of the CD Projekt group Adam Kiciński.

In a recent meeting with journalists, it’s come to light that once CD Projekt has completed work on Cyberpunk 2077, they will immediately press on with a new Witcher title.

“We have already been working on another single player game, we have created a relatively clear concept that is waiting for further development. And this is already beginning to happen, although we do not want to spend time on it. Immediately after the work on ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ over the next title will kick off”

Despite this being a new Witcher game, according to Kiciński, it will not be called The Witcher 4. The new game will be developed with a smaller team at CD Projekt. The other teams will continue working on Cyberpunk 2077 including more content and network code for multiplayer.

Kiciński says that the development of titles at the studio will take 4 – 5 years and they won’t be pushing out a new RPG in a couple of years because “quality takes time”.

While there are no further details on this new Witcher game as yet, it’s great to see they are returning to the Witcher universe and that they will be fully behind Cyberpunk 2077 updates for some time to come.
